Topic 1 : Encounters and Experiences
I decided to explore the idea of place and how experiences and encounters can differ from area to area. I took inspiration from visiting London, which is a location that has inspired me hugely due to the experiences I’ve had there. The pages below include artist research, composition ideas, material tests and statement of intents etc. These helped to develop and progress my ideas for my final piece.

Based on my experiences of London, with the differing colours representing the diversity and multiculturalism of Shoreditch - the area which I portrayed.

Topic 2 : individuality
For this project, i chose to explore the ways in which people express their identity and break the usual conventions. I was initially inspired by fashion, so there is a prominent focus on designers and the use of clothes to differentiate one from another. The pages below include artist research, observational drawings, composition designs and statement of intents, all of which helped me to develop a final piece which represented what individuality means to me.
Individuality Final piece
Taking inspiration from the fashion industry, i decided to create a textile collage which combined portraits of a few of my favourite designers. I used this idea to represent individuality as it includes my personal opinions with figures who are undoubtedly unique and original with their ideas. The material is another link to the fashion industry as it is formed by using textile. The varying colours of each background represent differing identities and also have links to their respective fashion work.
